Logistics and race promotion

So an hour record is basically a race, for yourself. You have to rent the venue (the track), take out a race permit with USA Cycling (only 28 bucks for a 1 person race with prize list under $499, hey that’s cheaper than doing a CBR race!), hire/arrange 3 officials, get a timing system and get signed/approved paperwork verifying the track’s distance (luckily Rog has that).

This is not a huge thing to do, but it is one more thing to manage and arrange while you are trying to get your equipment worked out and training. I had hopped to go for this attempt on my 40th birthday, but there is only a few officials that can do this sort of thing and they were not available on my birthday, don’t they know how important I am??? Anyway, luckily they were available the weekend before and all is good. I have to thank John Allen for helping arrange the officials and answering a few questions for me, it always helps to know a few people (especially officials).

So I am a go on June 23rd at 4pm.

Just crossing my fingers for good legs, good health and low air pressure!
