My “team”

2013-02-09_12-32-18_248

So I have assembled a “team” of people to help me with this hour record attempt, I did not exactly open up the yellow pages and start calling people up though. I have collected a group of people over the years that I have used to help support me, generally these people are friends to some extent and some of them have become involved with my club with some basic sponsorship.

My current “team” includes the following (I will go into detail in future posts on each team member):

-My Family
-Coach
Nutritionist
-Chiropractor
-Training partners

I will do a post on each of these “team members” in the future. for now I will give you the first one below, My Family:

summer_sleepingI am a lucky dude. My wife races bikes and “gets it”, we do a good job a balancing our elite (I joke when I say that) cycling careers. Our weeks and weekends are a finely tuned balance of organizing our workouts, kids school and social events, doctors appointments, girl scouts, my Son’s elite cycling career, Lego robot club, work (we do have to work a bit), birthday parties and 100 other family things going on. But every Monday morning my wife and I grab a coffee and figure out our week, it always starts with our training schedules and works from there. It goes beyond that though, my kids are great, they spend A LOT of time hanging out at the track while I/we train, they sleep, play computer games, watch movies and run around with other kids. My Son is on the track training 2 days a week as well, so he REALLY spends a lot of time at the track.

IMG_20130527_150134The real bonus is that both of my parents ride bikes, they are both real good at helping us balance the kids and our training/work life. My Dad is a regular training partner and part time shuttle driver for my training, pretty cool. Even got my Mother-In-Law and Aunt worked in the schedule, full family effort you know. My Dad and Aunt take turns watching our kids while we are at the track every year during our build up for track nationals, then they come with us to track nats as their Summer vacation, this is a real family effort!
