Another week, another workout

So another week of hour record training has begun, and that means another new workout for the week. This thing is starting to come up fast! Little over 3 weeks out, feeling pretty confident, though I hesitate to say that. Seems as if I have a few good workouts and get some confidence going, then I am quickly reminded that this will not be easy by having an “off” day.  The human body is not a machine, it does not perform exactly the same every day, I would even say it NEVER performs exactly the same.  But overall I think I am right on course, progressing and adapting both physically and mentally, right on course I think.  The real test is going to be next Tuesday, about 2 1/2 weeks before my attempt, I will perform a final full 1 hour test. Full aero, trying to ride my hour pace for the entire time. I will perform a pre hour routine of diet/warm-up as well as run all my gear (for the first time). I am even going to run the hour test at the same time in the afternoon that I anticipate going for the actual attempt (about 5 pm). Hell, I am even bringing my Dad out to let him practice for the big day (holding my water bottle, towel to dry me off etc.). I think this next test will be vital, a solid performance will do my brain good and go a long way towards getting me pumped and confident for the big day. A bad test will, well, I am not sure, hope I don’t find out what it would do!

In the mean time I still have some hard work to do. This week is another variation of longer aerobic efforts and taint hardening. The workout du jour is 10m at above race tempo, 10m behind the motor at 51-52 kph, 10m at above race tempo (30 minutes total work). Then 7 minutes rest and repeat, another 7m rest and repeat.
